Logline
Comedy writer with experience of Radio 4 sitcom development, continuing drama, children’s TV and feature animation.
Synopsis
I have always enjoyed creative writing and have a strong interest in television sitcom and drama. I have worked on several shows, teaching me about the practicalities of filming on set.
In 2001 I sent a sitcom script I had co-written to Jane Berthoud, a Producer at the BBC. I was put in touch with the producer of TV to go who invited us to write for the sketch show. I was also introduced to Debra Stevenson and together we wrote a pilot script for a sitcom idea she was developing.
In 2002 we were asked to write a sitcom for Radio 4. We wrote several treatments but unfortunately our producer left Radio 4, moving into TV work. The producer suggested that one of the treatments would be better suited for animation than radio, so I wrote it as a 10-minute animation script, which I am producing. The trailer can be viewed at www.buggedcartoon.co.uk.
I gained invaluable experience of writing on the spot when I worked as a writer and script editor on a half-hour Caribbean children’s story Aru and the Gaiac Taino, an educational show about the indigenous tribes of the Caribbean. I had my first opportunity at writing in situ, as we edited the script during the day’s read-throughs.
I am currently studying part-time on a Screenwriting MA at Bournemouth University and seeking a writing position in the UK television industry.
Aside from my degree, I am currently
working on a couple of writing projects: my final MA piece Those Dreaming Spires (please see my portfolio section for further details), a biopic feature and a web-based sci-fi drama that I hope will teach me plenty
about continuing storylines as it is set to run for a year. I am also developing projects and stories for Fast Finger in Hammersmith.
